Though the traditional way to find IP address using Email is to opt for the 'show original' button in gmail, but it no longer works anymore....

To start with tracing the IP, first of all you need to know about the mailtracking site(You may skip this if you are too lazy to read).
Now, signup for mailtracking. To get started, open your gmail/yahoo/.... and click on compose mail.

- In the "To" box,type your friend's Email ID whom you want to trace and at last add ".mailtracking.com" to the email ID. (example:: cruck@gmail.com.mailtracking.com)
- After sending the mail to him, and if he reads that mail, you will receive a mail from mailtracking showing you when and how long did he open the mail, IP address of the PC where his mail was opened.

Nice blog useful for those who are looking for some tools or software or script to find the ip address of any mail sender ..I used it and find the ip address of one of the victim who have sent me unwanted mail ...I used this method and found his ip address by sending mail to him as you mentioned .........After finding the ip address i easily traced his location just by doing ip search for that ip address through sites like Ip-Details.com they will display details like ip location ,net name ,address and so on but can't trace the exact home address from ip address i can collect only their ISP details from ip address ....
